Some of my That’s English! students are "worried" about the so-called "prueba certificativa" at the end of the basic and the intermediate levels. The Language School from Durango has published some exam samples on their webpage so that students can have an idea what the "final" exam may consist of.

Besides, here you have the page from which you can download the Galician schools of languages exams from the year 2007.

In addition, here you can download KET-PET-FCE-CAE-CPE sample papers.

COMIC NON-SEQUITUR

Read the comic on top and try to translate it (You can also read it here and make it bigger with the magnifying glass). What is it about? What do you think of it?

KEY:

Señor: No, cariño. Para recordártelo a ti.

When I think it could be nicer being ____________ or yellow or ___________
or something much more colorful like that.

It’s not that easy being green.

wonder, I am green and it’ll do fine, it’s _______.
And I think it’s what __________  __________  _________  __________.

KEY It’s Not Easy Being Green

It’s not that easy being green
Having to spend each day the color of the leaves
When I think it could be nicer being red, or yellow or gold
Or something much more colorful like that

It’s not easy being green
It seems you blend in with so many other ordinary things
And people tend to pass you over ’cause you’re
Not standing out like flashy sparkles in the water
Or stars in the sky

But green’s the color of Spring
And green can be cool and friendly-like
And green can be big like an ocean, or important
Like a mountain, or tall like a tree

When green is all there is to be
It could make you wonder why, but why wonder why
Wonder, I am green and it’ll do fine, it’s beautiful
And I think it’s what I want to be

Soy verde.

And in Galician language...

E a xente pasa ó teu carón sen verte,

porque non brilas coma a luz nun lago ou a lúa no ceo.

Mais é cor de primavera,

tamén verde é unha fermosa pedra,

e podes ser moi grande:

unha montaña moi importante,

coma un río ou as augas do mar.
